Some bristled at the mention of high schools and “the question of Saint-Louis”.

Please note that this office is definitely not one of them. Damn, we revel in it.

So, let’s step foot forward in a list of the best public and private high schools in our mighty metropolitan area.

The list comes from Niche, a website that helps families choose their school.

First, let’s take a look at the best public high schools:

At the top of the heap is Ladue Horton Watkins, followed by Clayton, Lafayette and Kirkwood.

In fifth place is Parkway West, which edged out rival No.6 Parkway Central. The top 10 is completed by Marquette, Summit, Metro and Pattonville.

Side note: In a ranking of the best public school districts in Missouri, the top four places went to Ladue, Clayton, Kirkwood and Rockwood, respectively.

The highest ranked public high school in St. Charles, No. 13, is Francis Howell; the best player in the eastern metropolitan area is Edwardsville, ranked 24th; And Windsor, at No. 41, did the best of Jefferson County schools.

When it comes to STL’s private high schools, the top honors go to John Burroughs.
