VIT present in Shanghai Ranking among world universities

The Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) was ranked between 801 and 900 among world universities in the Shanghai 2021 ranking, also known as the Shanghai ARWU (Academic Ranking of World Universities).

According to a press release, the Shanghai Ranking this year released a list of the top 1,000 universities in the world, with 14 Indian universities from India on the list. Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore has been listed in the 401-500 bracket globally as it tops the list for Indian universities. According to the Shanghai Ranking website, VIT is the only Indian private institution to make the list this year. VIT has been ranked by the Shanghai Ranking since 2019, according to the statement.

Ranking is based on research publications in top-quality journals, top-cited researchers, top-rated international awards and awards. The Shanghai Ranking is recognized by the Indian government as one of the Leading Institutions (IoE) ranking agencies.

VIT Chancellor Dr G. Viswanathan said: “This is due to the hard work and quality maintained by our faculty members, researchers and UG and PG students in teaching and research.”
