The University of New Mexico is listed as one of the best schools of the year for earning an online master’s degree by the OnlineMastersDegrees.org website.
UNM has been recognized for its excellence in the following areas:
UNM’s recognition comes at a time when enrollment in master’s programs is on the rise. In October 2021, the Council of Graduate Schools (CGS) reported a 7.3% increase in first-time graduate student enrollment in fall 2020. Part-time first-time student enrollment increased increased by 13.5%. The CGS report cites the growth of online and blended learning options as a key driver of these trends.
“As enrollment in master’s programs increases, it’s important to showcase colleges and universities with a clear focus on flexible learning and affordable tuition,” said Kyle Darland, co-founder of OnlineMastersDegrees. .org. “Each school in our ranking offers partially or fully online master’s options and a price that suits students.”
OnlineMastersDegrees.org analyzed over 7,700 schools using data from the US Department of Education. Their data science team then created an algorithm to rank these schools across 70 unique master’s subjects. To qualify, a school must hold an active regional accreditation and have both academic counseling and job placement services available to students. The main data points applied to the ranking algorithm include the following:
- Number of online programs in the field
- Number of online students
- Online Program Tuition and Fees
- Percentage of students receiving institutional support
- Amount of institutional aid granted per student
In addition to ranking online master’s degree programs in each subject, OnlineMastersDegrees.org has developed rankings by category. Schools can see how they stack up against their peers in each ranking metric. It also helps prospective students identify schools that excel in the areas that matter most to them.
