The tech giant is making login mandatory in order to prevent unauthorized users from responding on a user’s behalf.

“In order to prevent unauthorized users from responding on your behalf to invitations to Google Calendar events, you will now need to be signed in to use one of the RSVP hyperlinks in invitation emails,” Google said in a statement. blog post.

“Previously, organizers or anyone with a copy of an invitation from a specific guest could respond on behalf of that guest,” he said.

When email invitations are sent to Google Calendar, users can confirm their response with options such as “Yes”, “No”, or “Maybe” by clicking the appropriate option in the invitation. If a user is not signed in, they will need to sign in to their Google account to confirm their presence. The update only applies to users with a Google Account.

The extended rollout of the update has already started.

It is available for Google Workspace Essentials, Business Starter, Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Fundamentals, and Education Plus, as well as for G Suite Basic, Business, and Nonprofits customers.
