Following this exciting global growth, in Spring 2022 ME+EM raised £55m from investors, led by Highland Europe.
With 30% of its sales now coming from international markets, ME+EM then aims to accelerate its international expansion, mainly in the United States. In 2019, ME+EM launched their US website and began sending their monthly lookbook to the US. Since then, online sales in the United States have increased by almost 700%.
To support this growth in the United States (including store openings in 2023), as well as in two other key international markets – Canada and Australia – ME+EM expects to hire over 50 people in the coming year.
Founded in 2009 by Claire Hornby, ME+EM offers women beautifully crafted luxury clothing that doesn’t come with exorbitant designer prices. To achieve this, ME+EM operates as a direct-to-consumer business, cutting out middlemen and wholesalers to deliver exceptional quality at an accessible price.
Delivered in 14 tightly edited collections per year, each curated to serve the customer at that time, ME+EM is designed for busy women. “Smart styling” is the brand’s mantra and informs a rigorous design process that delivers head-to-toe flattering outfits that work in the real world.
ME+EM launched a line of luxury homewear that quickly evolved to include ready-to-wear and, more recently, footwear and accessories. But it’s those origins as a loungewear brand that have served ME+EM particularly well during the pandemic shutdowns, becoming a customer favorite for luxury pieces to wear at home. Fans of the brand include the Royal Family, Helen MirrenCat Deley, Erin O’Connor and Claudia Winkelman.
