Korean stars who joined Marvel movies: Park Seo Joon, Ma Dong Seok, etc.


As Hallyu continues to capture the attention of global audiences with its hit TV shows like “Squid Game”, “All of Us Are Dead”, and more, Korean celebrities are also taking the world by storm with their Hollywood debut. From Park Seo Joon to another award-winning actor reportedly in talks to have his first international project, these four Korean celebrities have and will appear in Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films. The 37-year-old actress is the first South Korean star to join the cast of the Marvel Studios project.

Claudia Kim, also known as Kim Soo Hyun, starred as Dr. Helen Cho in 2015’s ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’, titled Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Mark Ruffalo in Hulk and Sequel.

Besides her time in the MCU, Claudia Kim has also appeared in another Hollywood film. She played Nagini in the 2018 film “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald”, starring Eddie Redmayne.

Interestingly, she made her K-drama comeback in 2021, 5 years after starring in MBC’s melodrama “Monster.”

For her return to the small screen, Claudia Kim worked with “Squid Game” star Park Hae Soo and Lee Hee Joon for the mystery thriller “Chimera” and starred as a criminal profiler named Eugene Hathaway.

From his hit movie “Train to Busan,” Korean-American actor Ma Dong Seok, also known as Don Lee, joined Angelina Jolie’s “The Eternals” movie in 2021.

The 51-year-old actor got a big boost by taking on the role of Gilgamesh, an eternally powerful who is known to be the strongest and kindest member of the community.

During the height of the film’s release, Ma Dong Seok talked about working in Hollywood and doing projects in Korea.

As obtained by a exit, although he received international offers, he shared that his “base is in Korean films” and focuses on delivering local films; however, the actor added, “but I think it will be fun to film in a different atmosphere.”

Ma Dong Seok recently starred in a hit movie “The Roundup” with Son Seok Koo, which drew 12 million viewers at the Korean box office, and he is set to reprise his role in “The Outlaws 3.”

Fans rejoiced after Park Seo Joon and his agency confirmed that he was set to join the cast of “The Marvels.”

Although his cast and the actor have been tight-lipped about his role for his Hollywood debut, rumors have swirled that he will be playing the character of Amadeus Cho, a Korean-American known for his incredible intelligence.

The award-winning actor is reportedly in talks to make his Hollywood debut with Marvel Studios.

According Korea Joongang Daily, Lee Jung Jae is in negotiations to appear in an MCU film, but his agency Artist Company shared that they “cannot reveal anything” at this stage.

Interestingly, the outlet also mentioned viewer speculation regarding Lee Jung Jae’s MCU character and thinks the actor could play the villain in the sequel to “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” or l antagonist, Mister Negative, in the “Spider-Man” series.
