Need help marketing your music as a freelance artist? Jump on the new wave! Creating a Linktree or hyperlink for your new release is a simple and smart tool to get your subscribers to stream your music directly. A hyperlink, in this case, refers to a link that someone can click to display direct links to all of the different places to stream your music. Giving your followers quick and easy access to your music is an easy way to build engagement and present a professional deployment strategy. This simple step-by-step process of creating a hyperlink offers many benefits without any strings attached; not to mention it’s free!

Step 1: Go to Toneden.com and register

(FYI, there are several sites that create hyperlinks, but ToneDen is free and fast!)

-Create an account by entering basic information (it’s quick and easy – don’t be lazy bruh)

-Add your artist name

-Add your social media accounts (optional)

Step 2: choose the option “Music Link”

-They offer different types of links to use depending on what you are trying to promote (either music, event, tour, podcast, etc.). In this case, choose the “Music” option.

Step 3: Enter a “Source”

-In the case of “Source”, they refer to the streaming link for anything you want to promote (ie your single, EP, album, mixtape, etc.). This could be in the form of a SoundCloud link, Spotify link, or any other link you have from the project you plan to promote.

-Press the button “Create a link”

-ToneDen will take the link you gave it and use it to generate links to all the other platforms where your music is available. They will use all of these links to compile them into one hyperlink.

Step 4: Choose the platforms you want to show on your landing page

-ToneDen gives you a choice, however, keep in mind that you can only choose six to display on your link’s landing page. I recommend choosing the most used platforms like iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, SoundCloud, and Youtube.

-If your project link does not automatically generate on one of the platforms you want to display, you will have to manually find and copy this link.

-Click on “Continue”

Step 5: Customize your landing page

– This is where you can customize what fans see when they click on your hyperlink

-Fill in the “Title” field by entering the name of your project

– In the “Description” field, enter your artist name and anything you want to include here

-Choose your “landing page image”. I recommend using the cover art for your project (this will be the main image people will see when clicking on your hyperlink).

-Choose your “Background Image”. You can reuse your cover art (strongly suggested) or another image related to your project for aesthetic reasons. However, you must upgrade your account for this feature.

Step 6: Customize your preview (optional)

-ToneDen creates an audio preview of your song that will play on your landing page if you want.

-Choose the platform you want your preview to be on (Spotify, Youtube, SoundCloud or Deezer)

Step 7: metadata (optional)

-This step is to customize the way your project link will appear on social media posts. ToneDen already completes that for you so you don’t have to do anything, however if you want to change it that’s all you have bro.

Step 8: Edit your link (optional)

-The hyperlink they create for you is already very short (eg fanlink.to/bxw9), so you can leave it like that or create a custom link (eg fanlink.to/(Project-Name))

Step 9: Create a link!

-Click on “Create Fan Link” and the hyperlink is ready to be shared with the world!

-You can copy and paste the link into your IG and Twitter bio, share with mates to promote your music for you, or email your fans.
