Four Kazakh universities enter the prestigious World University Rankings for 2022


NUR-SULTAN – Four Kazakh universities are now included in the 2022 World University Rankings published by the British magazine Times Higher Education, compared to two universities in 2019, reports the Kazakh Ministry of Education and Science.

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, LN Gumilyov National Eurasian University, Satbayev University and Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abai were chosen along with 1,600 universities in 99 countries.

The evaluation is based on 13 criteria that measure the performance of universities in the following four areas: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international openness.

In addition to Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abai, Kazakh National University Al-Farabi and Eurasian National University LN Gumilyov, seven other local universities are listed in another prestigious ranking, Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2022 , which rates universities against the United States. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of nations.

The ranking is made according to four indicators: conducting research in urgent areas, managing the key factors of the SDGs, the role of the university at the regional, national and international levels, and raising students’ awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals.

According to analytics website, Nazarbayev University ranked 1,765 out of 2,000 elite universities in the Global 2000 list compiled by the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR).

The CWUR has published an Academic Ranking of World Universities since 2012 taking into account the quality of education, alumni employment, quality of faculty and research performance without relying on surveys and submissions university data.
