In a major setback for the Shiv Sena, the BJP got its three candidates elected in the hard-fought Rajya Sabha elections, the results of which were announced early Saturday morning. The candidates – Union Minister Piyush Goyal, Anil Bonde and Dhananjay Mhadik – won the election. The Sena, which had presented two candidates, succeeded in electing Sanjay Raut. Its second candidate Sanjay Pawar lost.

(Photo PTI) In a major setback for the Shiv Sena, the BJP got its three candidates elected in the fiercely contested Rajya Sabha elections, the results of which were announced early Saturday morning.

The candidates – Union Minister Piyush Goyal, Anil Bonde and Dhananjay Mhadik – won the election.

The election for the six Rajya Sabha seats took place on Friday. The sole Congress candidate, Imran Pratapgadi, won, overcoming unrest within the party. NCP senior leader and former Union Minister Praful Patel also emerged victorious.

Meanwhile, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has completed the construction of a retaining wall along the Poisar River near the Dahanukarwadi area. The civic body had previously demolished slum structures obstructing the proper flow of the Poisar River. BMC officials said construction of the retaining wall was completed in a record 15 days.
