CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Cleveland Cavaliers are promoting from within to fill the position of team CEO.
Nic Barlage was named CEO of the Cavaliers, Rock Entertainment Group and Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse on Tuesday. He was promoted from his position as President of Business Operations and Chief Operating Officer for Rock Entertainment Group.
Barlage replaces Len Komoroski, the 2013 Cavaliers CEO who announced last week that he would step down as CEO at the end of this season. Komoroski joined the Cavaliers as president in 2003, before Dan Gilbert bought the team in 2005.
Barlage joined the Cavaliers in 2017 as president of business operations and was named chief operating officer of Rock Entertainment Group upon its inception in 2021. He served as the Cavaliers’ vice president of sales and service from 2008 to 2014, but left for three seasons with the Phoenix. Suns before returning to Cleveland.

Barlage was previously with the organization for five seasons beginning in 2008 and until 2014 when, as vice president of sales and service, he left to join the NBA’s Phoenix Suns for three seasons as a as Senior Vice President and Director of Sales.
